Please Donate to the Bennett Valley Conservancy Fund
We know that our members receive plenty of appeals for donations at this time of year, and we thank those of you have contributed to the Bennett Valley Conservancy Fund! This is a ‘close-to-home’ initiative that will protect our valley from unwanted commercial development.
Last year the BVCA created the Conservancy Fund to provide financial resources to protect Bennett Valley from commercial developments that violate our Bennett Valley Area Plan (BVAP). The BVAP was approved by the board of supervisors in 1979. It is the result of residents who are passionate about preserving our rural and peaceful community, flora and fauna, scenic vistas, wildlife corridors, and scarce water resources. Increasingly the County is pushing to attract and permit unsightly commercial and other developments in Bennett Valley. Soon the County may try to increase commercial cannabis operations in Bennett Valley that masquerade as “farming,” including holding cannabis events and selling cannabis. These are blatant violations of our BVAP. The BVCA opposes commercial development from changing Bennett Valley forever.
Your donation to the Conservancy Fund provides the financial resources for the BVCA to hire lawyers and expert consultants to resist the County’s misguided policies. Two families have recently donated a total of $10,000 to the Conservancy Fund and are asking the community to match it. Please donate generously to The Bennett Valley Conservancy Fund. Donations may be deductible on state and federal taxes. We need some $1,000 donations.
The Bennett Valley Community Association, founded in 1970, is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.
