The roof of the Bennett Valley Guild hall is over 50 years old. It is leaking so badly that it is beginning to cause damage to the interior of the building.
A local roofing company can replace the entire roof for $100,000. It can replace the back half, which in the worst shape, for $50,000. The Guild wants to do the worst part first.
The original plan was to ask for a matching grant from the Sonoma County Landmarks Commission, a division of PRMD. The Guild has $25,000 to match.
Unfortunately, the County Board of Supervisors has decided to suspend funding for historical renovation projects due to the wildland fires in 2017 and the floods this winter.
Our community needs to raise another $25,000 before the rainy season begins next autumn.
We are asking BVCA members and residents of Bennett Valley to help by donating to this worthy cause.
Please make your donations to the BVCA, which is a section 501(c)(3) charity. The EIN of the BVCA is 94-2198044.
Checks can be sent to BVCA, P.O. Box 2666, Santa Rosa, CA 95405 (designate roof repair project). You can also donate on our web site using pay pal or a credit card (http://bennettvalley.org/index.php/join-renew/dues-donate).
Thank you in advance for any contribution that you can make.
