Sonoma Mountain Road Repairs Continue, Tuesday, Aug 12
County road crews are scheduled to apply fresh oil (a fog seal) to Sonoma Mountain Road between Bennett Valley Road and Pressley Road on Tuesday, August 12, between 8 am and 4:30 pm.
Please be patient with the minor delays when one lane at a time is closed to lay down the oil. We are very fortunate to have this road repaired.
Residents with driveways or cross streets on the affected section of Sonoma Mountain Road should not drive over fresh oil or it will stick to your vehicle. County crews will help you avoid this.
County workers will use pilot vehicles to shuttle traffic through the work zone over the open lane. If the lane where your driveway or cross street meets Sonoma Mountain Road is closed, please wait for a pilot vehicle to escort you. This will help avoid meeting a vehicle heading in opposite direction that would force your vehicle onto fresh oil.
Fog sealing over freshly placed asphalt will seal the new asphalt surface so it won’t soak up the chip seal emulsion when applied, allowing the rock chips to bond to the emulsion during the curing period.
Sonoma Mountain Road is scheduled to be chip-sealed on Monday August 18. About a week later the road will be striped.
