Bennett Vally Fire Protection District

Board Of Directors Election

On November 2nd, Bennett Valley will hold an election to choose three people from the four candidates for the Bennett Valley Fire Protection District Board of Directors. The four candidates, Lee O. Liddell, Matt Phillips, Nola Stans and Shalimar Vavra, will each make a brief presentation at the Bennett Valley Homeowners Association Board of Directors meeting, on Wednesday, 10/20/99, at 7:30 pm, at the Bennett Valley Fire Station. Bennett Valley residents are encouraged to attend.

Bennett Valley 2000 Calendars, Limited Edition

The Bennett Valley Open Space Study Committee has published a millennial calendar composed of original photographs of Bennett Valley, submitted by different residents. These Bennett Valley Calendars will be available at the Bennett Valley Fire Station, on Saturday, October 23rd and Saturday, October 30th, from 10:00 am until 12 noon.The Calendars will also be available at the Bennett Valley 2000 meeting, on Saturday, 11/6/99, at Grange Hall, from 8:30 am until 12:00 noon. At the cost of $15.00, you can either purchase the calendar or you can pick up your prepaid calendars. If you can't make any of these dates, you can request personal delivery from Judy Temko, at 544-0234.

Bennett Vally "Town Hall" Meeting!

Mike Cale, First District Supervisor, will be the moderator for a "Town Hall" meeting, in Bennett Valley, at the Bennett Valley Grange Hall, on Grange Road, Thursday, October 21st, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm, for all interested Bennett Valley residents regarding the Bennett Valley Design Review Committee.

After receiving some complaints during 1998-1999, the Sonoma County Grand Jury recommended abolishing this Committee. As of 9/28/99, the following response was adopted by the Board of Supervisors. "The recommendation requires further review and analysis. The Board of Supervisors believes that the Bennett Valley/North Sonoma Mountain Design and Review Committee has been instrumental in ensuring that the Bennett Valley area be able to retain its natural beauty and privacy. They have assisted the Permits and Resource Management Department (PRMD) in making decisions and recommendations on building permits. PRMD does not currently have sufficient staff to provide the same level of review as the Committee currently provides. It is correct, however, that the Committee does not always adhere to the approved guidelines and may unnecessarily delay a project. The Board of Supervisors and PRMD will advise the Committee that they must meet the following requirements within 90 days or the Board of Supervisors will consider abolishing the Committee. The Committee must: 1. Revise its guidelines for implementation no later than January 1, 2000. 2. Consistently adhere to these guidelines. 3.

Provide the guidelines to all purchasers of property in Bennett Valley. 4. Ensure that formal minutes of all meetings and decisions are taken and distributed to the applicants. 5. Ensure that all positions on the Committee are filled." 9997208 01
