Sonoma County Geyers Supply East
PG&E has installed a second set of towers alongside the existing ones running through our area. towers are taller and will carry 2 million kilowatts, twice as much electricity as the existing towers, put up in 1975 - 76. The power for the lines comes from the Geyers running through a part of Oakmont, Bennett Ridge, and over Sonoma Mountain to the Lakeville substation near Vallejo's Petaluma AdoThe ekectricity is then directed for use in the East Bay.
County will also be served by electricity from the Geyers as population increases. Oakmont residents persuaded PG&E to bury the second cables underground, but had to keep the existing towers above ground. Bennett Ridge residents have pursued and will continue to pursue alternatives to the obstruction to view and landscape now caused by Alternatives would the towers a color that would blend with the landscape and using a non-reflective cable.
towers and cables now being very light reflective. The Geyers, a natural source of energy now being exploited will, in the long run, save Petroleum to ever area it provides electricity. (Thanks to John Richardson in Bennett Valley for his help with this article. M.F.

Could it be saved? A possible mobile home park in Woodside and 1/4 acre home lots near the fire house were threatening the rural atmosphere of the area.
Meetings were held the Grange Bennett Valley landowners of the valley. Homeowners Association was formed by-laws drawn up for the functioning processes by Paul Mowbray, Secretary. Johnson brought the slope density plan from Carmel area. Presidents from 1970 through include Brad Lundborg, Charles Nunnemaker, Liddell, and Paul Mowbray. Bill Jacobs and bray have served on the its beginnings and continue today. Many residents from the Bennett Valley area have served on the board and assisted since the Association has been organized.
